5 Tips To Keep In Mind When Using Aerosol Spray Paint

Painting with aerosol spray paints can be a fun activity. And if you are someone who is looking forward to trying it out, then you have to know a few things about them so that you can use the spray paint efficiently.

Shake Well

The first thing you have to ensure is that you shake the bottle very well before you use it. When you buy the spray paint, the bottle would have been sitting idly for a long time. As such, all the ingredients of the aerosol will have settled down to the bottom. If you use it in such a condition, you will not get the quality of paint you are looking for. So, remember to only use the bottle after a good shake.

Mind The Distance

The distance between the bottle and the object being sprayed in extremely important. It should neither be too close or far away. If it gets too close, then the paint will not have the high quality finish. In contrast, if you hold the bottle far away, then the paint might become solidified right in the air while being sprayed. An ideal distance to hold the spray paint bottle will be 12 inches from the object.

Multiple Coating

Make sure that you apply multiple coats. Just one coat will not have the desired effect you are looking for. And when applying subsequent coats, ensure that you only do so after sufficient time has passed since applying the previous coat. Otherwise, you risk the chance that the paint coat might develop wrinkles and cracks. And if you have also applied a primer on the surface, it is always a good idea to wait at least 24 hours before you start applying paint.

Look At The Weather

The best conditions to use spray paint is when the temperatures are between 18 and 25 degree Celsius. If you use the paint in hotter conditions, there is a real risk that the paint might dry out before even hitting the surface. This might also create an orange peel effect, which is very undesirable. It is also not a good idea to use spray paint when the humidity is high.

Be very sure of wearing your respirator every time you use a spray paint. Since the paint fumes are toxic, they can do great damage to your body if you inhale it. Avoid wearing cheap masks made of cloth since the fumes can easily get through the mask and enter your nostrils. Instead, use a respirator which has replaceable filters.

When using aerosol spray paints, you should also ensure that you only use environment friendly products. The recyclable spray paint cans from Signature Filling Company is a good example of such a product.
